KW Fish Charter

About KW Fish Charter

Growing up, I always looked forward to all water activities - whether it was swimming, scuba diving or fishing. I visited Key West and was mesmerized by the warm weather, laid-back lifestyle and the beautiful waters - where the ocean meets the gulf. I packed-up my things and moved to the southernmost city. At first, I held multiple jobs got on the water as often as I could. I was fortunate to have some local watermen take me under their wings and show me the art and science of offshore fishing. I quickly progressed from deck hand, to mate, to captain. It was a great experience and I still help them out to this day. Nowadays, I still love fishing and spend most of my free time fishing. I will go out and try different techniques or try to find new spots. In the slower season, I spend much of my time under the water studying the fish behavior and how they are affected with the tides and moon phase. As I progress as a captain and angler, I always try to push myself into more challenging situations.

Early Mahi-Mahi Bite

By |2019-04-08T21:03:33+00:00April 8th, 2019|Categories: Fishing Reports|

March was a good month. We had the snappers still biting in the inshore patches with bigger mutton’s being caught 12-15 lbs. in 20-30 foot of water.  The tuna bite was a bit tough. However, we started to get an early Mahi-Mahi (dolphin fish) bite later in March.  The Gulf Stream proved to still be an [...]

January and February 2019 has been busy.  We had some rough seas then very calm seas - seemed like every other day.  But that’s the good thing about fishing in Key West, Florida.  When the winds are high, the backcountry offers much protection and we can still get out fishing catching sharks, snappers, and barracudas.  For [...]

It’s a new year and a new start of the season. We ended 2018 with big blackfin tunas and plenty of groupers! Usually this time of year is tuna, sailfish, and wahoo season until April when the mahi start showing up.  January 2019 has started a bit different with some nice gaffer dolphin being caught. The [...]

By |2018-11-29T00:08:45+00:00November 29th, 2018|Categories: Fishing Reports|

The first cold fronts have passed thru and the bait on the reef has become plentiful.  Moving on with the bait, the mackerels, barracudas, sharks, snappers, and groupers are following.   The wrecks have provided non-stop action, however, the sharks have been getting more of their fair share of the catch. Offshore has been on a steady [...]
